The Technical Bit!

The Extechnology UV unit is comprised of stainless steel cabinet enclosing a series of UV lamps designed to provide UV radiation at a specific frequency. Ambient air is drawn into the cabinet at a regulated rate so that the maximum Oxygen / Ozone conversion ratio can be achieved. The ozone laden air is then introduced into the kitchen extract duct via two spigots, 125mm in diameter and 40mm in length. This ozone is then free to oxidise both odour and grease throughout the extract system.

In order to ensure that the Extechnology equipment is successfully employed it is necessary to establish the contact time within the duct to determine the interaction between the gaseous oxidising agent and the grease and odour contaminants.  A minimum contact time of two seconds is required to achieve a noticeable degree of odour control and extending the contact time will only help to improve the results.  

The main benefit associated with the Extechnology ‘UV' application lies in its design and unique approach to ‘UV' filtration.  The Extechnology ‘UV' unit sits outside the airflow therefore the UV tubes are protected from contamination and do not require regular cleaning, a barrier which burdens many inline applications.
